Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure that uses a scalpel or razor blade to remove the top layers of skin. It can be used to treat acne scars, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz. The procedure can be performed on the entire face or small areas of skin, and can benefit people of all ages. Dermaplaning uses a hand-held instrument called a dermatome. The dermatome looks like an electric razor and has an oscillating blade that moves back and forth to evenly "skim" off the surface layers of skin that surround the craters, or other facial defects.
